Today we built our own rockets from kits and with the press of a button launched them into the sky! Today we brought bridges we had built and tested the strength of the bridges! The stakes were high as cinnamon rolls were on the line. :)
From the 10th to the 11th of November Troop 1 was on a campout at the Temple Fork Sawmill. They started off their journey using map and compass to navigate a scenic 2.7 mile hike along a little creek. At their destination they were met with snow and more snow. With the temperature and the sun descending, the warmth of the fire that they had built was very nice to have. With the sun down the scouts were able to see the wonders of the night sky, as it was completely filled with stars and wasn't obstructed by anything but the occasional cloud. The next day the scouts all huddled around another fire they had built as the night had been very cold. Then with all their gear prepared they set off back home with the help of their map and compass. Overall the scouts learned many useful skills and improved upon existing skills including how to use a map and compass, how to start a fire, how to set up a tent, and many others. The pictures are of the scouts, scout leaders, landscape, creek, hills, night sky (in order to see the stars you have to zoom in), beaver dens, and some other things. |
